Cong leaders' statements indicative of cheap politics: BSP
The statements made by Congress leaders over the killing of a chief medical officer in Uttar Pradesh B.P. Singh are baseless and indicative of the party's "cheap thinking and opportunistic politics", the BSP has said.
"The statements given by Congress leaders over the murder of CMO Singh is indicative of their cheap thinking and opportunistic politics," BSP state unit president Swami Prasad Maurya said here on Monday.
"Before levelling allegations against the BSP government in the state, Congress leaders should remember the criminal incidents during its regime," Maurya said.
He alleged that during the previous government in the state, stern action was not taken against criminals and mafias who were protected by the administration.
He also alleged that the law and order situation in Congress-ruled states could be gauged from the fact that an additional district magistrate was burnt alive in Maharashtra and a police inspector was set ablaze in Rajasthan.
Union minister of state for surface transport Jitin Prasad had on Monday said in Lakhimpur that chief minister Mayawati should take moral responsibility for Singh's murder and resign from her post.
The Congress workers also took out a 'nayaya yatra' across the state demanding a CBI probe into the murder.
B P Singh, the CMO of Uttar Pradesh family welfare department was shot dead by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants on April two near his Gomti Nagar residence here.
