Cong to JD(S): Are you secular?
Bengaluru: The Congress hit back at the combined opposition for striking a grand alliance to defeat the party in the Lok Sabha and Council by-polls.
Speaking to reporters here on Friday, KPCC president Dr G. Parameshwar said the grand alliance will not have any impact on the Congress party in the Lok Sabha by- elections. Earlier too, the country has witnessed alliances of anti-Congress forces, he said.
People know about the unholy alliance of the BJP and JD(S) during their 20:20 month power sharing agreement, said the KPCC chief adding that the alliance was nothing but a marriage of convenience.
By joining hands with BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, the JD(S) has gone back on the principles of secularism. Former PM H.D. Devegowda should now explain to people about his party’s ideology and also give reasons to the minorities about his party’s ties with the BJP, Dr Parameshawar demanded.
“Gowda used to say his party will never joins hands with BJP, but JD(S) and BJP have entered into a pre-poll alliance. If Gowda was unaware about the alliance, he should expel former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy as he expelled Siddaramaiah for attending AHINDA conventions in 2005”, he said.
