Cong for cbi probe in U.P. mining ops too
Buoyed up by the arrest of Reddy brothers in Karnataka, the Congress is now demanding a CBI inquiry alleged irregularities in mining of sand and stone in Uttar Pradesh. In a statement issued late on Thursday, UP Congress
spokesman Dujendra Tripathi said, “Illegal mining of sand and stone is being patronised by senior officials and ministers who are its direct beneficiaries in UP. If a probe is ordered, then the magnitude of illegal mining in UP could be much larger than Karnataka.”
The UP Congress spokesman claimed that "goonda tax worth lakhs of rupees was being collected from every vehicle that ferried sand, stone and other material on a daily basis”.
