Cong campaign in UP helped BSP govt: SP
After having lost the leadership in farmers’ agitation, Samajwadi Party on Monday claimed that the aggressive campaign of the Congress has rather helped the ruling BSP in UP.
The party, however, warned that if pro-farmer Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill is not drafted, the SP would hit the street on the issue. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, SP national vice-president Brijbhushan Tiwari claimed that the unsubstantiated claims of a senior Congress leader in place has helped the ruling BSP in the state.
“The Congress leaders should have backed their claims with proof but they rushed with their allegations as they had no evidence. This has helped the ruling BSP after having been put on the backfoot by Opposition’s campaign on the issue,” added Mr Tiwari.
He said that his party would offer suggestions on proposed land bill but if it failed to be pro-farmer, the party would hit the street.
