‘Cong to blame for water crisis’
BJP youth wing activists led by party’s Delhi unit president Vijay Goel staged a protest at the residence of Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda here demanding release of Delhi’s share of water.
Mr Goel and scores of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) activists were taken to Parliament Street police station and were later released.
Mr Goel said that Congress governments in Delhi and Haryana should stop “shadow boxing” at least on sensitive issues like water crisis. “The political acrobatics of Congress which is ruling both the states (Delhi and Haryana) on the issue of water cannot escape the eyes of angry public,” he said.
He alleged that every year water crisis hits Delhi in its worst possible form during summers.

U.P. to release 500 cusecs from Ganga canal
Muzaffarnagar, May 19: Shortage of water in Delhi and the NCR is expected to be reduced after the Uttar Pradesh government ordered the district authorities here to release 500 cusecs water from the Ganga Canal.
Delhi and neighbouring districts have been going through a severe water shortage for the last few days after the upper Ganga Canal was shut for repairing of a breach at Khatoli.
“It has been decided that 500 cusecs of water will be discharged to supply drinking water to the Delhi Jal Board and prevent loss to the farmers in 19 districts of UP,” said chief engineer, irrigation department, A.K. Gupta.
