Cong attacks Modi on Gujarat riots
The Congress on Tuesday further stepped up its attack against Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi for his alleged role in the post-Godhra riots in 2004 by asking for a Supreme Court monitored investigations into recent revelations made by some police officers.
Appealing to the Supreme Court to take cognisance the recent allegations against Mr Narendra Modi by senior police and administrative officers of the state, AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said, “Like the 2G spectrum allocation scam, we would prefer to have an top court monitored enquiry into the alleged role of Mr Narendra Modi during post-Godhra riots in 2002.”
Talking to reporters here, the AICC spokesperson claimed that it was “an open fact” that what happened in Gujarat in 2002 were not riots but state-sponsored massacre of minorities.
“It was slaughter of humanity. If senior officials posted in the state have said so, we expect the Supreme Court would look into them.
“Circumstances make us believe that as long as Mr Modi is chief minister, victims will not get justice there,” the AICC spokesperson added.
