Cong always soft on Naxalism: BJP
Hitting back at the Congress, which had accused it of “working in tandem” with the Naxals, the BJP on Thursday said the Congress has always adopted a “soft approach” towards Naxalism and its leaders have “no knowledge of the ground reality” of Naxal-affected areas.
Condemning the killing of the Congress leaders in Chhattisgarh, the BJP claimed that during its rule in the state Naxalism has been restricted till Bastar region while it had flourished in the state during the Congress rule.
Accusing the Congress of playing politics over the “national threat”, the party maintained that it needs inter-state coordination and “consistent national support” to fight the Naxal menace.
The BJP, which is currently ruling the state, said it postponed its nationwide “jail bharo” campaign against the Congress-led UPA because of the “condemnable incident” in Chhattisgarh but the Congress is now making political statement on the issue. BJP general secretary and in-charge of the state J.P. Nadda said Congress itself is facing “internal disputes” in the state unit.
“There are talks about who was present and who was not (in the Congress’s Parivartan rally), who came first, who came late and who survived and who got caught (in the attack)... It is not appropriate for me to make a comment,” said Mr Nadda, adding that these issues are part of the terms of reference of the judicial probe set up by the Raman Singh government.
