Confusion over PG medical exam results
The post-graduate (PG) medical students, who appeared for the first ever National Eligibility-cum-entr-ance test (NEET) that was held in November and December last year by the National Board of Examination (NBE), are in a fix. While the regulation by the Medical Council of India (MCI) suggests that results be declared by January 31 and the apex court directing that the exam conducting bodies hold the results, there seems to be a lot of unrest among students.
The National Board of Examination conducted NEET-PG 2013 from November 23, 2012, to December 6, 2012 as a computer based test (CBT). NEET-PG is a mandatory test for gaining entry to MD/MS/PG diploma.
Over 95,000 candidates registered for the computer-based admission test for the PG Medical courses which was held at 50 centres in 33 cities across the country.
However, some states and students opposed to the new system of exam after which the matter reached the court, which in its recent order asked the Medical Council of India (MCI), Dental Council of India (DCI), as well as states, universities and the other institutions to conduct their respective examinations for the MBBS, BDS and Post Graduate courses. However, it also said that results shall not be declared until further orders of the court.
The students and the exam conducting bodies are waiting for January 28 when the matter will be heard again.

I&B minister bats for Haasan
Age correspondent
Lucknow, Jan. 25
Union information and broadcasting minister Manish Tewari batted for Kamal Haasan over the ban issue.
The I&B minister told reporters that he did not want to say much since the matter was sub-judice in Chennai high court. “However, once the court has dealt with this episode, the larger question of whether the state government has the right to ban a film once it has been cleared by Censor Board also needs to be looked into,” Mr Manish Tewari stated.
