Conditional green nod for Lavasa
The environment and forests ministry has given its “conditional” clearance for the first phase of the controversial multi-crore Lavasa hill city project near Pune.
Lavasa, a massive township being being built over 25,000 acres by Ajit Gulabchand’s Hindustan Construc-tion Company, had in February sought environment clearance of its first phase. The decision came after the Maharashtra government filed a case against Lavasa for allegedly violating the Environment Protection Act.
