Condition of victim improving
The condition of the 22-year-old sexual assault survivor has been steadily improving, informed the authorities at Jaslok Hospital on Sunday.
The hospital also released a medical bulletin on Sunday evening stating the same and added, “She is eating normally and her medical parameters are in control. Our team of experts especially assigned to this patient is continuously monitoring her.”
The survivor, however, is likely to remain in the hospital for another two to three days. “I’ve told my doctors to tell me when they think she’s medically and mentally fit to be discharged. There’s no pressure of any sort on any doctor treating her to send her home soon or the family to take her home early. So, the doctors have not brought up discharge as yet. It would certainly take another two to three days in my estimate,” said Dr Tarang Gianchadani, acting CEO and director of medical services of Jaslok Hospital.
There also ensued a rumour that UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi might be scheduled to visit the hospital to see the survivor. However, neither the state nor the hospital officials had any confirmation or communication regarding the same from the Centre.
The hospital expressed gratitude to the media and the state administration for “support and cooperation, which helped in focusing on the treatment of the survivor.”
