Common syllabus for UP universities
Twelve universities in Uttar Pradesh will soon have a common syllabus for 63 subjects taught at the graduation level, besides a common entrance test for admission in PhD courses also. The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of vice-chancellors of state universities.
Vice-chancellors of these universities have decided
to place the proposal of common syllabus before the board of studies of their respective universities for approval by July 15, said an official spokesman.
The syllabus of these courses will be upgraded to meet contemporary demands so as to help students get admission in post-graduate courses in different universities and transfer from one university to another.
This step will also make the process of formulating question papers and evaluation of answersheets easier.
It was decided that as per the recommendation of University Grants Commission, the 12 universities will hold common entrance test for different subjects for admission in PhD.
It was agreed that universities should develop “information management system” to ensure transparency in admissions and examinations.
