Coimbatore killings: Girl, 11, was sexually assaulted by driver
Coimbatore: Eleven-year-old Muskan Jain, who was kidnapped along with her brother, Hrithik, 7, by a taxi driver in the city on Friday was sexually assaulted before her body was dumped into a canal, reports claim.
Police recovered the bodies of the two siblings from the waters of Parambikulam Aliyar Project (PAP) canal in Konguvarpatty, about 60 kms from here, in Tirupur district.
Hrithik's body was fished out today, a day after the elder sibling was found dead. The two children of a textile merchant went missing while going to school on Friday morning. Mohanraj, the taxi driver, hired by their parents to drive the children to school, has been arrested on suspicion.
He confessed to kidnapping the children on the way to the school for ransom, police claimed. However, afraid of police action, he drove with the children to Pollachi where he threw then in the PAP canal at Sarkarpathy, police alleged.
The driver, who was produced in a court last night, was lodged in central prison, they said.
