Coimbatore house owner claims she has tree bearing record breaking 5000 coconuts
A house owner in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has claimed that a coconut tree located at the back has delivered a record breaking 5000 coconuts.
Esther, the house owner, has been growing coconuts for the past four years.
She said on Tuesday that there was one particular tree was different from normal coconut trees and that it was a kind of attraction in the vicinity.
"We are growing few coconut trees, generally we see only two types of coconut trees, one variety is tall and another one is short. But this tree is different from the regular coconut trees. Normally coconut trees bear only 70 coconuts on one tree. But this tree has 400 coconuts on each bunch, which is really amazing, many locals had come here and took photographs, we use these coconuts for cooking, those are tasty, even though the size is small. The coconut tastes is very nice, now what we think is if we have another tree like this then we can also distribute the seedlings to the neighbours to grow this kind of tree every where," said Esther.
"As I said a normal coconut tree bears 70 coconuts, but this coconut tree is now bearing more than 5000 coconuts alone," added Esther.
The main areas of coconut cultivation in India are the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Pondicherry, Maharashtra and the islands of Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar.
