Coal scam: cbi to quiz pm adviser
The CBI will soon record the statement of Mr T.K.A. Nair, adviser to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, on the coal allocation scam. The coal portfolio was with the PM from 2006 to 2009. The agency has also summoned former coal secretary H.C. Gupta and questioned two former PMO officials.
CBI sources said Mr Nair has been called as a witness in the probe into alleged irregularities in coal allocations between 2006 and 2009.
Mr Gupta has been called for questioning on Thursday.
He recently resigned as a member of the Competition Commission.
Official sources said the agency wants to know from former coal secretary Mr Gupta how clearances were given for coal allocations by the screening committee which he chaired on several occasions.
