CM minority scheme is a fraud: Maya
The BSP has termed UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s scheme to allocate 20 per cent funds of all government welfare schemes for minorities as a “fraud” and a move to mislead minorities in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
In a statement released here on Wednesday, BSP president Mayawati said that the announcement indicates that the Samajwadi Party is in no mood to give reservation to Muslims in proportion to their population as promised during the Assembly elections. The BSP president also criticised the government for not setting up schools in Muslim-dominated districts. “This clearly indicates that the Samajwadi government is only interested in misleading the Muslims and taking advantage in the Lok Sabha elections. As for the allocation of 20 per cent welfare funds for minorities, the chief minister should have made this provision in the state budget. With half the year almost over, this announcement will not percolate down to the grassroots level,” Ms Mayawati said.
