Clarity on Telangana after Kiran calls on Sonia Gandhi
Hyderabad: A clear picture on what decision the Centre will take on the future of the state is expected after Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy meets Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
The Chief Minister had reached New Delhi on Tuesday. He is likely to meet Gandhi on Wednesday before returning to the state.
Kiran Kumar Reddy had a one-on-one meeting with Union finance minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday and got the latest information on what had transpired at the Congress Core Committee meeting on the Telangana issue.
Later in the evening the Chief Minister met AICC general secretary in-charge of AP affairs, Digvijay Singh, and had discussions with him for more than an hour.
Digvijay Singh is expected to come to the state on June 28 to meet party leaders and take their opinions on various issues.
After the meeting, the Chief Minister told the media that he did not now what decision could be taken on Telangana. “I hope the high command will soon find a solution,” he said.
Digvijay Singh told leaders who met him on Tuesday that the party will make an announcement and asked their cooperation in implementing the decision.
Speaking to this newspaper on condition of anonymity, the leaders who met Mr Singh said, “Something concrete on solving the T issue is very much on cards. We are not aware of what it may be, but something is brewing in Delhi for sure.”
YSR respected Telangana sentiment, says Vijayamma
Seeking to clarify the YSR Congress’ stand on Telangana, its honorary president Y.S Vijayalakshmi said that her husband late Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy had respected the Telangana sentiment.
She said her son and YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy also respecting the Telangana sentiment. Speaking at a meeting of party workers on Tuesday in Medak district she said that the creation of Telangana was in the hands of Centre.
“While deciding on Telangana, the Centre must ensure that no injustice is done to any person or region in the state. To benefit seven T-districts, YSR had started Pranahita and Chevella project when he was the CM, but the project is incomplete still,” Ms Vijayalakshmi said.
Meanwhile YSRC senior leader MV Mysoora Reddy speaking to media at Hyderabad on Tuesday said.on Telangana issue the central government has to take a decision.
To a question he said, Telangana issue would be covered in a political resolution in their party plenary which will be held on July 8 at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district. He said, that the party plenary would be adopted 26 resolutions including political, economic and the shoddy style of CBI functioning.
Mysoora said, the Plenary which coincides with the birthday of YSR would discuss the political situation in the state, the anti-people policies of Congress government and its nexus with main opposition TDP and how CBI is being used as a political tool settle political scores and resolutions would be adopted.
Organisational elections would also take place and the Party President would be elected during the Plenary, senior leader Ummareddy Venkateswarlu will be the Returning Officer he said.
