Chronology of Nithari serial killings
New Delhi: Dec 29, 2006: The killings come to light with the discovery of eight skeletal remains of children from the drain of a house in Nithari, Noida. Two suspects - owner of the house Moninder Singh Pandher and his domestic help Surinder Koli - arrested.
Dec 30: More skeletons recovered from the drain.
Dec 31: Two beat constables suspended as political pressure starts building up.
Jan 1, 2007: Policemen and villagers clash over the serial killings. Uttar Pradesh Police question Pandher's family in Chandigarh.
Jan 05: Accused Pandher and Koli taken to Gandhinagar for extensive narco-analysis Test by Uttar Pradesh police.
Jan 9: More skeletons found in the drain behind the bungalow.
Jan 10: CBI takes over investigations in the case.
Jan 11: First CBI team visits Nithari to initiate probe in the case. Thirty more bones found near Pandher's house.
Jan 12: Pandher and Koli quizzed by CBI.
Jan 13: Around 30 officers, mainly CBI sleuths and forensic experts, find more human remains from two drains.
Jan 20: UP government files report to NHRC.
Jan 25: A group of lawyers and bystanders attack Pandher and Koli when they were being taken to a Ghaziabad court.
Feb 8: Special CBI court sends Pandher and Koli to 14 days of CBI custody.
Mar 1: Koli records his confessional statement in a Delhi court.
Feb 13, 2009: Koli and Pandher convicted and sentenced to death by a special CBI court for murder of 14-year-old Rimpa Haldar, one of the several victims.
Mar 22: The CBI gives clean chit to Pandher but indicts Koli, terming him a cannibal, and charges him with rape of a 20-year-old victim, Payal.
Apr 10, 2009: CBI files charges in Payal's killing. Koli charged with abduction, rape and murder. Pandher let off.
May 11: The CBI court asks the investigating agency to take a fresh look at Pandher's role. Till today, the CBI has filed 16 charge sheets against Koli and the court has framed charges against Pandher in six cases.
Sep 11: Allahabad High Court confirms death sentence of Koli but acquits Pandher in Rimpa Haldar murder case.
Jan 7, 2010: Supreme Court stays the death sentence of Koli in Rimpa Haldar case.
May 4: Koli found guilty of murder of Arti Prasad, 7, and handed a second death sentence on May 12.
Sept 28: Koli handed a third death penalty, this time for murdering eight-year-old Rachna Lal, daughter of labourer Pappu Lal.
Dec 22: Koli handed a fourth death sentence for rape-cum-murder of 12-year-old Deepali.
Feb 15, 2011: Supreme Court confirms death sentence of Koli in Rimpa Haldar case. Keeps CBI appeal against acquittal of Pandher pending.
