Chouhan writes to PM for fund
Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to draw his attention towards the prevailing scenario in the Mahakoshal region of the state and seek a special package of Rs 1,9,303 crores for inclusive development of this area through additional planned intervention during the remaining period of the Eleventh Plan.
A large part of the Mahakoshal region is predominantly tribal and borders the naxalite affected Chhattisgarh state.
In his letter, Mr Chouhan has said that the special package will help the Mahakoshal region, comprising eight districts — Jabalpur, Mandla, Dindori, Seoni, Balaghat, Chhindwara, Narsinghpur and Katni — catch up with the rest of the state and the country in terms of overall development.
Dindori, Mandla, Seoni and Balaghat are predominantly Scheduled Tribe areas.

CBI will not give info on extradition

The CBI has refused to reveal the details of its correspondence with the Union ministry of external affairs on the extradition of Warren Anderson, former CEO of the Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), and said disclosure would impede the process of bringing him back.
In a reply to an RTI, the agency said, “The correspondence between the MEA and CBI which took place 15 years ago could not be revealed as it would impede the process of extradition and prosecution of Anderson.” The agency’s DIG, Rakesh Aggarwal said, “As the trial of one of the accused, Mr Warren Anderson, in this case is still pending, disclosure of the information would impede the process of his extradition and prosecution. Hence the information is denied.” The agency, however, did not give any reason as to how withholding of details will impede Mr Anderson’s prosecution and extradition.
