Child rapist kin face boycott in Bihar village
The arrest of the Delhi child rape accused in Bihar sparked outrage against perpetrators of such heinous crimes on Saturday as angry voices blamed them for frequently “sullying the state’s name outside”.
Even as shocked residents in the native village of the accused, Manoj Kumar, 22, in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district decided to socially boycott his family, the police in Patna braved hundreds of protesters at the airport while getting him into an Air India plane for travel to Delhi. Seeing a swelling gathering of protesters, a Delhi police team accompanying Kumar took him inside the airport through the exit gates. Kumar was arrested late on Friday night at his in-laws’ house at Chiknauta village.

Since one of the accused in the gruesome Delhi gangrape of December 2012, Akshay Kumar Thakur, 26, hailed from Bihar, the latest arrest for a rape in Delhi left a sense of utter disgust among many in the state.
