Chanakya of modern Indian politics Arjun passes away
Veteran Congress leader Arjun Singh, who was once called the Chanakya of modern Indian politics, died here on Friday after a prolonged illness. The late leader, who had served as Madhya Pradesh chief minister and as a Union minister, was admitted to AIIMS on February 23 with chest pains and neuro problems. He suffered a heart attack and breathed his last on Friday evening.
He is survived by his wife Saroj Kumari, two sons — Ajay Singh, an MLA in Madhya Pradesh, and Abhimanyu — and daughter Veena.
“Arjun Singh was admitted to AIIMS on February 23. He was shifted to the ICU yesterday (Thursday). He was suffering from chronic diseases, related to chest pain and neuro problems. He was kept in a special ward ...” the AIIMS spokesperson, Dr Y.K. Gupta, said.
