CBSE takes students by surprise
A chance âencounterâ of a student with the website of National Informatics Centre Monday threw up a big surprise: CBSE had quietly announced class X results at 6.40 pm.
The first Tom quickly spread the news for his classmates and friends to peep and the wildfire took little time to spread.
CBSE usually announces the date of results much in advance but for some unknown reason, chose to skip the âformalityâ this time, quipped a senior teacher in Chennai.
Also, it would announce results at least a week before state board results. The state results for 12th class would be released Tuesday and for the class X on June 4.
According to CBSE results announced Monday, the pass percentage of Chennai region comprising the southern and western states, besides Andaman & Nicobar Islands, is 99.66.
D.T. Sudharsan Rao, regional officer, CBSE, said, âA total of 1,52,024 students appeared for the exam, 1,51,509 passed and 432 are eligible to appear as EIOP (eligible for improvement of performance).â
Among the scores of smiling people is S. Amudha Lakshmi, principal of Chettinad Vidyashram. âAll 625 kids who took the exam in our school passed and of them 40 scored A-1 grade (91-100 per cent),â she beamed.
Ms Lakshmi has a double reason to celebrate: her son Aravind Chandh is among those 40.
