CBI wants sentence enhanced
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday filed a criminal revision application in the sessions court here seeking enhancement of sentence against those convicted by the trial court in the criminal case linked with the 1984 Union Carbide gas disaster.
Earlier on Tuesday, responding to the appeals by those convicted by the trial court in the criminal case linked with the 1984 Union Carbide gas disaster, Bhopal district and session Subhash Kakade fixed September 28 for hearing their appeals.
Separate appeals were filed in the sessions court against the June 7 order of the Bhopal chief judicial magistrate on June 28 by former chairman of Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL), Keshub Mahindra and others including former managing director, UCIL, V.P. Gokhale, former vice-president, UCIL, Kishore Kamdar, former works manager, UCIL, Bhopal, J. Mukund, former production manager at Bhopal, S.P. Choudhary, plant superintendent, Bhopal, K.V. Shetty and plant operator, S.I Qureshi.
