CBI summons Kalmadi PS
The CBI on Wednesday summoned Mr P.K. Srivastava, personal secretary to Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi, to its headquarters for the second time. The CBI also, for the first time, questioned OC director-general V.K. Verma, a close aide of Mr Kalmadi, on Wednesday. According to
sources, some of the top brass of the OC, including Mr Kalmadi, may be asked in a day or two to step down from the posts they hold. The sources added that Mr Srivastava was called by the CBI in connection with the agency’s probe related to alleged irregularities in several contracts. As far as the questioning of Mr V.K. Verma is concerned, the sources said, he reportedly told CBI officials that the “suspicion related to alleged irregularities in certain CWG contracts on any individual is totally baseless”. He told his interrogators that all the CWG contracts had been examined by several high-level committees, the sources said.
