CBI speeds up its probe
The Central Bureau of Investigation has speeded up probe into Jagan Mohan Reddy’s illegal assets case as the stay petition of the Kadapa MP was rejected by the Supreme Court.
CBI joint director V.V. Lakshminaray-ana said, “We will go ahead with the investigation.”
Sources in the CBI said that initially those who don’t cooperate with the investigation will be arrested. Mr Redyy is likely to be summoned to CBI in the next few days.
An official on condition of anonymity said, “Usually CBI will not arrest those who cooperate with the investigation. We concentrate on collecting evidence and filing strong chargesheet. As well as trying the accused in the court to get them convicted.” Meanwhile, the CBI issued notices to around 20 accused in the scam case and began examining them.
Mr Lakshminarayana denied questioning APIIC the then MD B.P. Acharya. The CBI is likely to grill the accused including Acharya in the next few days source said.
