CBI seeks Maderna medical report

The CBI, probing the Bhanwari Devi case, has sought a detailed medical report about the health condition of former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna from the MDM hospital, Jodhpur. Maderna, a key suspect in the Devi missing case, was admitted at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the MDM hospital after he complained of chest pain on Saturday.

According to sources, the agency on Wednesday wrote a letter to the hospital administration in this regard. The hospital administration has been asked to provide detailed medical report about the health condition of Maderna at the earliest, sources added.
A team of CBI officials also visited the MDM hospital on Wednesday and discussed with doctors his health condition. The agency officials also examined certain medical reports of Maderna. The agency wants to quiz Maderna again in connection with the case.
The agency has also sought assistance of some state police, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh in connection with its probe related to the case.
“Unconfirmed reports suggest that Bhanwari Devi might have been murdered by a gang based in Uttar Pradesh. Officials also suspect that the 36-year-old folk singer was first taken to Banaskantha district in Gujarat and later she was murdered,” sources said. This is the reason that the officials probing the case have sought assistance of certain state police.
“The local police recently recovered a Bolero jeep, which was allegedly used to kidnap her, from Kanodar village in Banaskantha. The Bolero jeep might have been used by accused to kidnap Devi, a well-known folk singer of Rajasthan,” sources said.
Bhanwari Devi has been missing since September 1 and her family suspects that she has been murdered. The Rajasthan police had earlier arrested a contractor, Sohana Lal Vishnoi, to whom Bhanwari Devi had reportedly sold her vehicle.
