CBI scrutinises email servers in 2G case

The CBI has started scrutinising details of the email server back-up of corporate lobbyist, Niira Radia, and some others in connection with its probe into the 2G spectrum scam.

The CBI officials recently seized the email server back-up of Ms Radia and some private persons in connection with 2G scam probe. The agency is trying to gather information about the contacts of Ms Radia and also details about those who remained in touch with her through mail during the allotment of 2G spectrum licences, sources said. The agency is also trying to find out contents of certain e-mails that were allegedly deleted, sources added.
“If required, Ms Radia may be questioned again by the agency,” sources said. Earlier, Ms Radia was questioned by the CBI officials at her Chhattarpur farmhouse on December 21, 2010.
The agency had earlier registered a case against unknown officials of DoT and unknown private persons, companies and others under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with alleged irregularities in the allotment of 2G spectrum licenses.
The CBI recently conducted searches at the office and residential premises of former telecom minister A. Raja, Ms Radia, former chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) Pradip Baijal and several Chennai-based companies with which former telecom minister and his family members are allegedly linked in connection with 2G spectrum scam. The CBI officials also conducted searches at the residential premises of two alleged hawala operators — Mahesh Jain and Alok Jain — in Delhi. The CBI, in its raids carried out in New Delhi, Tamil Nadu and Noida (UP), had also 19 hard discs of computers owned by relatives and close associates of Mr Raja.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
