CBI reiterates charge against Amit Shah
The CBI in its submission before the Supreme Court on Wednesday reiterated the charge against former Gujarat minister of state for home Amit Shah that he had a role in the “fake encounter” of Tulsiram Prajapati, an associate of Sohrabuddin, in whose encounter case the minister is an accused.
The CBI counsel alleged that Shah got Prajapati eliminated with the help of some Gujarat police officers, also accused in Shorabuddin fake encounter, to save their skin as he was the key witness in Sohrabuddin case.
However, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani, appearing for Shah, lambasted the CBI for its allegations, saying the whole theory of Shah’s involvement in the case was “concocted” by the CBI, which, he alleged, was acting under direction form the Central government to fix some important leaders of BJP in Gujarat. Mr Jethmalani said that while preparing the chargesheet against Shah, the CBI has virtually “thrown to the winds” all the set procedures under CrPC, with a “single point” agenda to rope in Shah in a “false case”.
The submission was made by CBI and Jethmalani before a bench of Justices P. Sathasivam and B.S. Chauhan on the petition of Narmada Bai, the mother of Prajapati.
