CBI probe soon to prove Mecca, Ajmer blasts link
Though it was always suspected, the CBI is pretty close to establishing the “evidence” that the same module or set of operators could be behind the Mecca Masjid and Ajmer dargah blasts of 2007. The CBI investigation revealed that same set of documents were used for procuring a set of SIM cards, a few of which were used for triggering the Mecca Masjid and Ajmer blasts. The identity of those involved in the two blasts has also been ascertained.
The prime accused in Mecca Masjid blast, Swami Aseemanand, told his interrogators that the “same documents” was used to purchase 11 SIM cards from Asansol and Chittaranjan in West Bengal, and Jamtara (Jharkhand). Two of these SIM cards were used for causing blasts in Mecca and Ajmer.
Sources have revealed that this is for the “first time” the agency has established similarity and involvement of the same group in both blasts. On the basis of interrogation of Aseemanand, the CBI has sent its teams of officials to Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat to nab the module of “at least 50” persons involved in the two blasts. The agency has also succeeded in ascertaining the identity of the persons involved in the two blasts, sources said. The agency is now trying to gather the operational details of the module of 50 persons, all members of right wing outfits. “This is the reason that the CBI has sent at least seven teams to UP, MP, Jharkhand and Gujarat”, sources said. Aseemanand’s role in the two blasts was limited to only decision-making, sources said, adding that the operatives who worked on the ground, need to be caught.
Other important persons, who are suspected to be involved in these two blasts include Ramnarayan Salnaskar, Sandeep Dange, Pranav Nath Mandal, Anand Raj Katariya and Dharmendra Baragi. All of them are wanted by the CBI.
“Officials of the probe agency are also trying to ascertain the identities of the persons who were contacted by the SIM bearing number 9732110207, which was recovered from the spot immediately after the 2007 Ajmer blast,” sources said.
