CBI to file Tatra chargesheet soon
With the CBI expecting to get replies to its judicial requests from the UK and other countries in connection with its probe into the alleged irregularities committed in the procurement of Tatra trucks for the Indian Army, the agency is all set file its chargesheet in the case very soon.
Sources said, “The agency is expecting replies of its LRs (judicial requests) very soon. Immediately after getting reply from the UK and other countries, the CBI will initiate the process of filing chargesheet in the case”. The CBI had sent its LRs to the UK, Slovakia and Czech Republic to get details about financial transactions and ownership pattern of overseas units of the Tatra company.
“Other evidence collected by the agency during the probe have already been examined by the CBI’s legal wing.”
“The agency also recorded statements of certain former defence ministry officials as part of its probe into the case which will be mentioned in the chargesheet”, sources said. The CBI on March 30, 2012 had registered a case in connection with the supply of all-terrain Tatra trucks through state-owned Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) to the Army.
