CBI charges on NCB officer
The CBI special court on Tuesday framed corruption charges against the former chief of the Narcotics Control Bureau’s zonal directorate at Chandigarh.
Then posted as zonal director, Mr S.K. Sekhri was arrested on September 6 last year after he allegedly accepted a `2 lakh bribe from the owners of pharmaceutical firm located in Himachal Pradesh. The officer has been charged under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Chandigarh’s NCB directorate has gain much notoriety in recent years with four officers being charged with crimes.

‘China denied visa for being overage’
New Delhi, Nov. 23: An eminent statistician has claimed that he was recently denied visa to visit China for being overage.
“Recently I was invited for a conference on science in China. I was denied visa as I am over 80 years of age. There is a rule here that people above 80 should not be invited to speak on science... The organiser later withdrew the invitation,” C.R. Rao told a group of MPs here. —PTI
