CBI charges Maderna in Bhanwari case

The CBI on Wednesday charged former Rajasthan minister Mahipal Maderna and suspended Congress MLA Malkhan Singh with murder, kidnapping and criminal conspiracy in the Bhanwari Devi murder case.

According to the chargesheet, the absconding Indira Bishnoi is the key conspirator in the making of a CD showing Bhanwari in a compromising situation with Mr Maderna. The agency also charged Bhanwari’s husband Amarchand with criminal conspiracy and abduction.
The CBI booked the arrested 16 accused under Sections 302, 364, 120 B. The charge-sheet was filed in Jodhpur after more than four months of investigations. The government handed over the probe to the CBI in the first week of October 2011 when Bhanwari, a nurse, went missing and the dalit community launched an agitation.
