A report would be submitted to the centre within three days on the water scarcity and difficulties in raising ‘Samba’ paddy crop, R.K .Gupta, leader of the central team touring Cauvery delta districts to assess the water situation said on Sunday.
The team inspected parched paddy fields and crops on the verge of dying for lack of water in Sellur, Nagapattinam, Anandamangalam and Erukkattencheri in Sembanarkoil and Annanperumalkoil in Sirkazhi.
Mr Gupta said the team would, on its return to New Delhi on October 10, submit its report to the government as well as the CWC shortly.
Earlier, the farmers told the team that only if Karnataka released water in Cauvery immediately, Samba crops could be saved.
Representatives of the Federation of Farmers Association led Arupathy Kalyanam, submitted a memorandum urging the Centre to monitor all reservoirs and irrigation tanks in Karnataka as the state was releasing water into such tanks also.
