Cash-for-votes: Wife, Jaya meet Amar Singh in Tihar
Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh today had a stream of visitors, including his wife Pankaja and actor-turned politician Jaya Prada, at the Tihar jail, where he was lodged yesterday after he was sent to 14-day judicial custody by a Delhi court in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam.
"He (Singh) had the normal jail breakfast and food today," Tihar Prisons Deputy Inspector General (DIG) R.N. Sharma said.
The jail food comprises roti, vegetables, pulses, tea and bread. Singh was also visited by his wife Pankaja and his younger brother at around 10 AM while Lok Sabha MP Jaya Prada and few other associates met the former Samajwadi Party leader at about 12.30 PM.
"Singh also attended the routine roll call at the jail," Sharma said.
55-year-old Singh has been lodged in a 15X10 feet cell in jail number three which also houses former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda who was arrested in a multi-crore money laundering case.
Amar Singh is the fifth MP to be lodged inside Tihar Prisons after 2G scam accused Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi and former telecom minister A. Raja, sacked CWG OC chairman Suresh Kalmadi and Koda.
