Cash on camera: EC sends notice to Ajit Singh son
Rashtriya Lok Dal leader Jayant Chaudhary, son of party chief Ajit Singh, was caught on camera accepting cash from a local leader during an election rally in Mathura on Sunday.
The Election Commission on Monday sent him a notice for alleged violation of the model code of conduct.
Mr Chaudhary was caught on camera taking `70,000 from a local leader during an election rally in Govardhan Assembly constituency in Mathura’s Mogarra area. He then passed the cash to his party nominee, who returned the money to him. Mr Chaudhary later passed it on to his brother-in-law, who was accompanying him on the campaign trail.
Mathura’s ADM (City) Ram Avatar Raman told reporters the district administration had sent a notice seeking an explanation from him. Mr Chaud-hary is contesting from Maanth Assembly segment in Mathura, which goes to the polls on February 28.
