Car bomb explosion rocks south Kashmir blast
One person was killed and 15 others were injured in a car-bomb explosion in south Kashmir's Anantnag district on Thursday, police said.
A senior police officer said: "A bomb planted inside a parked Maruti car went off in Bijbehara town, 49 km from Srinagar, this (Thursday) afternoon. One person was killed and 15 others were injured in the blast."
The officer said the injured, who included one CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) trooper and 14 civilians, were being evacuated to various hospitals.
Tension gripped the town, situated on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, following the explosion. Shopkeepers pulled down shutters as shoppers and commuters rushed for cover.
Senior police and paramilitary officers have rushed to the town. No separatist guerrilla group has so far owned responsibility for the blast.
