Capt. draws masses at Hoshiarpur
Thousands of eager Hoshiarpur residents were joined by huge thronging crowds from surrounding villages in according a never-before welcome to the Congress president and former chief minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh despite the freezing winds on Monday.
And he did not disappoint them.
“Amarinder Singh aa gaya hai sadde badle laen vaaste. Eh oe haneri han jis naal enan Badalan di chutti ho jayegi… sade CM saab wapas aa gaye hani (Amarinder Singh has returned to avenge all the insults heaped upon us… he is the storm that will blow the Badals away… our CM has returned).”
“It will not be much longer now. Elections will be held in less than a year and the groundswell for change has already begun here in Hoshiarpur. Datte raho! (keep up the pressure),” the Congress chief said, drawing even more cheer.
Increasingly attacking in his posture against the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal, Capt. Singh directly targeted chief minister Parkash Singh Badal of getting old and forgetful in his old age.
Responding to the chief minister’s recent charge that he (Capt. Singh) was absent for the past four years he said, “you have grown too old Badal sahib and you seem to be losing your memory,” he thundered reminding the CM of the numerous “false cases” he had foisted on Congress workers including himself.
