Capt, Badal hail desi Canada MPs
Evidently acknowledging the immense political influence expatriates continue to have back home in Punjab, both Congress president Amarinder Singh and chief minister Parkash Singh Badal have hailed the success of Punjabis in the recently concluded Canadian parliamentary elections.
Applauding each of the eight winners, Capt. Singh said, “Their feat is both remarkable and significant because they have not just been voted in by Punjabis and Indians but by people representing different ethnic identities. This is indeed a moment of great joy and pride for all of us.”
Eight — Parm Gill and Baljit Gosal from Ontario, Devinder Shori, Tim Uppal and Deepak Oberoi from Alberta, and Jinny Sims aka Joginder Kaur, Nina Grewal and Jasbir Sandhu from British Columbia — of the 23 Punjabis that contested the federal elections.
