Cameron India visit in July
Britain’s new Prime Minister David Cameron, who heads the Conservative-Liberal Democrats coalition government, would visit India in July, official sources said on Sunday.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday met Mr Cameron for the first time on the sidelines of G-20 Summit here after latter took over as British Premier in May.
Dr Singh congratulated Mr Cameron on his victory and extended an invitation to him to visit India which he accepted and would be coming in July, officials said.
Mr Cameron had visited India in 2006 as the Leader of the Opposition.
Like the previous Labour government, the new coalition government is also keen to build a special relationship with India.
Prime Minister Singh told Mr Cameron that he was looking forward to his visit to India. The British Prime Minister said that he would welcome more Indian students to come to Britain for studies.
Meanwhile, masked protesters rioted across downtown Toronto on Saturday, setting police cars ablaze and smashing store windows in a violent show of opposition to the G-20 summit.
Toronto police chief Bill Blair admitted the police had struggled to control the crowds, and had used tear gas on one occasion, after warning people to stay away from trouble spots. At least 130 people were arrested for rioting. Peaceful demonstrations were too held.
