Cabinet nod to Group C workers under CVC
The Union Cabinet on Saturday also consented that Group C employees will be investigated by the CVC while the Lokpal will have the “oversight, appellate and supervisory powers” to monitor such complaints. Group D employees will be covered by the state Lokayuktas.
Suitable amendments would also be made to the Indian Constitution, the Delhi Police Special Establishment Act, which controls the CBI, the PCA (Prevention of Corruption Act), CrPC & CVC Act to bring the Lokpal into existence.
The government has also agreed that the CBI director will now be appointed by a three-member committee comprising the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and the Chief Justice of India.
The Union Cabinet also cleared 50 per cent reservation for Scheduled Case, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Classes and women in the nine-member constitutional body which will have statutory powers.

Resignation of kejriwal accepted
New Delhi: The government has finally accepted the resignation of Team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal from the IRS, almost six years after he quit the job. The acceptance of resignation came 45 days after he deposited over `9 lakh as dues to settle the issue. — PTI
