C’garh: Forces foil Naxal ambush plan
Security forces on Sunday recovered a powerful improvised explosive device (IED) planted on the route of a search party at Hangamba under Dhansuli block in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district, averting a major disaster, police said.
A senior district police officer told this newspaper that a search party of district force (DF) and special task force (STF) personnel halted their march when they found a suspicious object on roadside at Hangamba.
Later, they recovered an IED with explosives weighing 50 kg, which was enough to blow up an IED-proof vehicle, several detonators and 50 meter-long wire. The bomb disposal squad diffused the bomb.
“We could avoid a major disaster by recovering the IED,” the police officer said.
