Businessmen funding separatists via hawala?
Several businessmen from Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi and Mumbai are under the scanner of Central intelligence agencies for allegedly providing funds to separatist leaders as well as protesters, for creating trouble in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to sources, telephonic intercepts reveal that funds are also being sent to the separatist leaders and protesters in the state through hawala channels. Available inputs suggest that some businessman based in Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi and Mumbai are providing funds to protesters on a regular basis, sources said, adding that intelligence agencies are also trying to find out other ways of by which the money is being passed on to the protesters.
“The telephonic intercepts of certain businessman have revealed that sending funds through hawala channel is the best way to avoid detection. However, not all businessmen are preferring this mode of money transaction. Respective state police teams have been alerted in this regard and vigil has been increased following the recent intercepts,” sources said.
Besides, available inputs suggest that Pakistan’s ISI is also playing crucial role in providing funds to the trouble-makers. Latest inputs with the central agencies reveal that the ISI has instructed the protesters to target schools, bridges and security personnel during the protests, sources said.
“Some separatists leaders are in constant touch with ISI and Pakistan-based militant outfits. Inputs suggest that following the instructions of the ISI.”
