BSY: Not aspiring to be cm
Having decided not to have any confrontation with the BJP anymore, former Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa paid a surprise visit to the party office at Malleshwaram on Saturday and announced he would actively participate in the council elections campaign.
It was uncertain till Saturday evening whether he would visit the party office. However, the former chief minister attended a special meeting during which he encouraged the party workers to work hard in the elections.
“I am not an aspirant of the chief minister or party president posts. I am an ordinary worker of the party and will work for the party. Due to our own mistakes we had lost the Udupi-Chikamgaluru parliamentary byelections. By winning all six seats in the council we have to teach a bitter lesson to both the Congress and JD(S),” he said.
As soon as he arrived at the party office, the atmosphere in the office changed, with party workers shouting slogans “BSY ki jai”. Soon after he occupied a chair on the dais, urban development minister Suresh Kumar joined him. After receiving a warm welcome by party workers, he said: “Hereafter, I will come to the party office and spend time with workers. I have opened my own office nearby, after finishing works at my office, I will come to party office to meet party workers.”
“We have to win all six seats in council elections. Since the Jan Sangh’s time we had a winning track record in both Teachers’ and Graduate constituencies. This time too we have to win all six seats. I will participate in the council election campaign.”
he announced.
