BSF, Pakistan rangers discuss border issues
Pakistan again raised the issue of floodlights on the international border while India objected to allowing people to graze their animals close to the border on the Pakistani side during a a routine monthly meeting between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Pakistan Rangers.
The meeting between the two sides took place on Wednesday at Khokhrapar Conference Hall in Pakistan where both sides discussed various issues related to border management.
The Pakistani side was headed by Lt. Col. M. Salim Raza while Lt. Col. R.K. Negi led the Indian side. According to sources, the BSF lodged its complaint with the Pakistani side and objected to letting people come close to the border with their cattle.
The BSF noted that the wrong elements could move in disguise if villagers were permitted to bring their animals close to the border in the name of grazing.
The Indian side wanted to prevent people from moving around the border pillars while pretending to be grazing their animals. Pakistan objected to the floodlights.
Both sides said the meeting was held in a peaceful and friendly atmosphere. The next such meeting will take place on the Indian side. Such border meetings are part of a mutual understanding aimed at coordination in manning border security and resolving issues.
