Brigadier held for csd purchase ‘scam’

The CBI has arrested a serving brigadier of the Army and director of a private company for alleged irregularities in the purchase of consumer goods for Canteen Stores Department (CSD) in the MoD. Brig. Bikas Ranjan Daschaudhary, joint general manager of CSD and Milind Govilkar, director of Sankalp Consumer Products were arrested by the anti-corruption bureau of CBI on Saturday. According to CBI, Daschaudhary was caught red-handed accepting illegal gratification of `1.25 lakh from Govilkar. “The private company unauthorisedly acted as a marketing arm and representative of other companies. Govilkar in connivance with officials of CSD manipulated various demands of CSD items,” CBI said.
