Breakaway Gujjars’ rally today
Even though Gujjar leader K.S. Bainsla had signed a peace pact with the state government, a group of Gujjar leaders gave a call to organise a “Mahapanchayat” at Sikandra under Dausa district on Thursday to formulate a strategy to relaunch the agitation. But Mr Bainsla said a group of Gujjar leaders from outside the state are trying to spoil the community’s cause. Sources in the state government, however, claimed the BJP was trying to incite the community.
A section of Gujjars, led by former NCP MLA Ramveer Singh Bidhuri, rejected the pact signed by Mr Bainsla, saying Mr Bainsla had betrayed the community. A group of Gujjar leaders backed by the BJP also supported Mr Bidhuri.
But Mr Bainsla lashed out at those leaders and asked them to restrain from their divisive policies. “Why don’t such leaders voice demand for reservation for Gujjars in their own state of Haryana,” he asked.
“Such people are selfish and could not get NCP ticket in the last elections. Now they are eyeing Rajasthan for their political ambition,” Mr Bainsla said.
He warned such leaders and said Gujjars will not allow them to enter their villages.
