Boy thrashed by teacher dies
A 10-year-old boy, who had been brutally thrashed by his teacher at the Abhinaypura Government Primary School in Etawah district, succumbed to his injuries at the SGPGI in Lucknow. The boy’s father Arvind Kumar has now lodged a complaint with the Basrehar police station in Etawah in this regard.
The family members and other local residents also staged a protest outside the school demanding strict action against the teacher.
According to the boy’s father, Anuj Pratap Singh, a student of Class 3, suffered critical injuries after he was brutally beaten by his teacher on July 26. He was admitted to a hospital in Etawah from where he was referred to Sanjay Gandhi Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) in Lucknow. “Anuj’s teacher, Mamta Rani, had beaten him brutally in the school on July 26, following which he suffered critical injuries in the neck and spine. The teacher also warned the boy against speaking about the incident to his parents,” the father said.
Basrehar SHO Jasveer Singh admitted that the boy’s parents had given a complaint in this regard.
He said that the police will take statements of Anuj’s classmates and other teachers to ascertain the facts.
“The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and action will be taken after the investigations are over,” the SHO said.
Meanwhile, basic education officer of Etawah K.K. Ojha said that according to the school attendance register, Anuj had not attended the school on July 26.
