Both Mumbai ports reopen on August 15
The oil spill from MSC Chitra has finally stopped and salvage operations have been started with the help of a floating crane.
In New Delhi, minister of state for environment Jairam Ramesh told Parliament that “by Sunday (August 15) evening, the harbour will be clear and normal traffic restored” in both the ports.
He added that 17 ships were waiting to leave the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust and Mumbai Port Trust, and 15 ships were waiting to berth.
