Bodo rebels asked to deposit arms
The National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) Ranjan Daimary faction has been asked to deposit their arms and list of cadres to the police to sign a formal suspension of operations agreement with security forces in Assam.
In this regard a tripartite meeting was held here on Tuesday, which was attended by joint secretary in the ministry of home affairs Shambhu Singh, representatives of Assam government and NDFB president Ranjan Daimary among others.
Mr Singh told this newspaper that a deadline of September 30 has been given to the NDFB (RD faction) to submit the list of cadres with their photographs and mobile numbers. “We will be issuing photo identity cards to all the cadres who have been asked to remain confined to three designated camps,” said Mr Singh informing that NDFB has also agreed to follow the ground rules for suspension of operations and keep their cadres under the surveillance of CCTV camera inside the designated camps.
