Bodh Gaya: No leads, all angles still open
There has been no clear headway in the investigation of the serial blasts at Bodh Gaya, Bihar as yet. National Investigation Agency sleuths are probing all possible leads, including the purported claim of the banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen (IM) saying it was responsible and any possible link with the issue of alleged atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Burma.
A possible Pakistan link is being explored by investigators who are examining a Twitter account that purportedly belongs to the IM where it has not only claimed responsibility for the Bodh Gaya attacks but also warned of another terror strike in Mumbai. “We are verifying it. A final assessment will be made after we get more details,” an official said.
On Wednesday, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde said a detailed probe is being done by the NIA which is looking into the IM’s purported claims.
No arrests have been made in the case but the Bihar police on Wednesday detained one more person, identified as Dasrath, of Barachhati village, the same village to which Binod Mistri, the first person to be detained by the NIA, belongs.
Dasrath was picked up on the basis of calls he made to Mistri and as his named figured in the police diary, police sources said.
The role of Mistri and Dasrath in the attack, if any, has not yet been ascertained.
Meanwhile, Mr Shinde, who visited the bomb blast sites along with Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Congress leader Ambika Soni, said the NIA probe will also establish whether there were any security lapses
