BJP wants govt to bring motion for formation of JPC on February 22
BJP on Friday asked the government to bring the motion for the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on February 22 and said it would not boycott the Presidential address to both Houses of Parliament.
"We would expect the government to bring a motion for the formation of JPC (to probe the 2G scam) on February 22. We have already informed the government about our demand," Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj told reporters here.
In reply to a question, Ms Swaraj said her party will not boycott the address of President Pratibha Patil to both Houses of Parliament on February 21 when the Budget Session begins.
"We will certainly attend that," she said.
Asked as to what would be the Opposition’s plan if the government fails to bring a motion for formation of JPC on February 22, Ms Swaraj said, "The NDA floor leaders will meet and decide on the future strategy".
When asked whether the BJP would boycott the Union Budget on February 28, she said, "It is still far away. We will decide on our plans after February 22."
